Hi Gerard
She sounds like someone from a Trollope novel. Did you know that Charles Dickens wrote under the pseudonym ‘Lady Maria Clutterbuck’? It sounds like you need to do some research on this!
I too have an old mah jong set inherited from my parents which we used to play as children. I must get it out and relearn how to play.
I suspect Singapore would be hardly recognisable now to your mother.
I hope you’re both enjoying (?) lockdown.

Hi Niki
It reminds me of the Crosby, Stills and Nash song….
“Almost cut my hair
Happened just the other day
It’s gettin’ kind of long
I could’ve said it was in my way
But I didn’t and I wonder why
I feel like letting my freak flag fly”
Peace & love

We were put back on the plane – next stop Bombay (Mumbai) So we continued our journey on the hippy trail from there ✌️

The only momentos are my ukelele, an original “old man lamp” not one of the horrible modern ones and my unusual bamboo mah jong set which we use regularily and the grandkids love it. I wonder how much it has changed.

Good luck and stay safe

Gerard
