Captain Hugh and the Reluctant Navigator
The Voyage of Vega

By George! She’s got it!

I think that I finally understand the joy of sailing. It might not be love yet but after a wonderful day’s sail in the sunshine, with 20 to 25 knots of wind, the sails filling and the boat pulling through the water, spray rising from the bow, and my taking the helm to get 7 knots of speed (that’s about 8mph, not as fast as a marathon runner but pretty good for our boat), well, I started to really enjoy it!
I won’t get too excited. I don’t want Hugh getting too smug and Henry Higgins.

Oh, and we’re anchored in the evening sun in a small bay in the Ria de Arousa. And dolphins came out to greet us as we arrived. What could be more loverly?

Indeed it is good to hear you enjoying it. If Hugh does get a little Henry about it, you could just mention that underlying desire for a Jetski!

Is that Hugh’s or my underlying desire for a Jetski? Sounds a bit Freudian to me.

    Hey
    Annie
    That sounds great.
It is the things that happen that you neither go looking for or expect which make adventures. I’m in Northampton and discovering a part of England which feels more foreign than any other part I’ve been in. Enjoy.

Strong overtones of “My Fair Lady” in your latest blog – do you love that show, by any chance?

You guessed right. We watched the film with Rex Harrison & Audrey Hepburn only recently, and I have some of the tunes on my iPod. Sad but true x
